Types of Testing
ArrowHealth can implement an effective and legally defensible drug & alcohol testing program tailored to your specific needs or the needs of your company.
Pre-employment
Pre-employment testing is performed on a job applicant who must pass a drug, and sometimes an alcohol test, prior to being hired or as a condition of employment.
Random
Random testing can be performed on a specified percentage of a company's covered workforce on a monthly or quarterly basis, or can be used for individuals and treatment facilities to randomly select a person or persons needing unannounced testing. Drug and/or alcohol testing can be performed randomly.
Reasonable Cause
Reasonable cause testing is generally performed on employees. A worker must submit to a drug and/or alcohol test if 2 supervisors, at least one of which is trained in recognizing the signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol abuse, observe performance and behavior which would indicate possible drug and/or alcohol use.
Post-Accident
Post-accident testing is performed, according to company policy, on employees whose performance may have contributed to the accident in question. A post-accident test may be a drug and/or alcohol test.
Follow-Up
Follow-up testing is a reasonable program of unannounced drug and/or alcohol tests that can be implemented for an employee who has returned to duty after failing a previous test, or after refusing to submit to a test.
Follow-up testing can also be utilized for an individual(s) in treatment who must complete a specified number of unannounced tests to satisfy the requirements of their program.
Periodic
The Department of Transportation requires some industries to test employees as part of a physical examination during the first calendar year of the implementation of the employer's anti-drug program.
